COURSE TITLE AND CREDIT:

Math 126 Calculus II

4 Hrs Lecture Credit: 4 semester Hours

COURSE PREREQUISITES: A minimum prerequisite of high school Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II with an appropriate mathematics placement score is required. An alternative to this is that the student should successfully pass with a C or higher MTH 125..

I. COURSE DESCRIPTION
:

This is the second of three courses in the basic calculus sequence. Topics include vectors in the plane and in space, lines and planes in space, applications of integration (such as volume, arc length, work and average value), techniques of integration, polar coordinates, sequences & series, and parametric equations.

II. COURSE OBJECTIVES: As a result of successfully completing this course the student will be able to:

1. Find Areas between two curves.
2. Find volumes using disk and shell methods.
3. Find Arclengths and areas of surfaces of revolution
4. Work , centroids of plane regions, centers of mass of two dimensional objects.
5. Integrate products using integration by parts.
6.Integrate using trig substitution.
7. Integrate fractions using partial fractions.
8. Evaluate improper integrals.
9. Solve simple applied integration problems, (pressure on a dam, work, Electric field).
10. Study of Sequences & series
11. Define, draw and analyze parabolas, ellipses, and hyperbolas.
12. Differentiate, draw, and analyze parametric equations.
13. Parametric equations, polar coordinates
14. Vectors in the plane
