What!? A star party is a party at which the stars (or planets) are the star attraction, in this case, Mars.
Who ? The CACC Physics club is hosting a Star party at the CACC Observatory at Harris Farm near Goodwater, Al. (See map on the back)
When? Friday night, Nov. 17, 2000 from 5:30 til ?
What's happening? Actually the Leonids is for the late nighters, since the meteors should arrive around midnight. However, with Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, and a host of deep sky objects avaiable since the moon will disappear early, this should be a fantastic night of star gazing. In addition to CACC's 12 inch Meade LX 200, we will have at least 2 other telescopes with which you may view the sky, (but feel free to bring your own if you have one). But the real star of the evening will be our host, Rutledge Landers, the founder of our observatory. He is one of the most dynamic star gazers in Alabama.
Where? CACC Observatory at Harris Farm in Goodwater.
Map is located at http://207.157.12.149, or if you want, you can meet at the BS parking lot at 5:00 PM for a guide to the farm.
Food? Picnic suppers are welcome. Refreshments will be provided. Bring a chair or a blanket if you plan to stay late.
The public is invited. Admission is free, but donations are welcome. Come out and enjoy meteors and the stars.
